Lisa is a Wisconsinite who moved to Colorado with her husband of almost 20 years 11 years ago to pursue an LL.M. in Environmental Law at Denver University's Sturm College of Law. Before moving to Colorado Lisa had obtained a Juris Doctorate at Saint Louis University.

Lisa and her husband, Tim, are the parents of a 1st grader at AXL and a 3rd grader at Quest. Both parents are delighted to see their 1st grader thriving in the Expeditionary model of AXL.

Lisa is also a regional officer for a history non-profit organization, helps with her daughter's Girl Scout troop, keeps their Little Library stocked, and enjoys historical painting and paintmaking methods as well as hiking.

I’m originally from Long Island, New York and have lived in Aurora Co. for over 27 years now with my husband of 24 years. I have been apart of the AXL family and community since it’s inception in 2008 where I enrolled the first our 5 children. I have been part of the AXL family for the past 11 years doing various roles and settling in as the Assistant Pre school teacher. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking my 3 dogs in Cherry Creek State Park, crafting, gardening and listening to live music.

Finn Lanning
Board Member

Finn taught 7th and 8th grade math at AXL Academy for 4 years, and has taught at other schools in Denver, Miami, and Kansas. Finn also worked on the development of the middle school and high school Crew Curriculums with EL Education. Finn now lives in Wichita, KS and is the Director of Camp Sunflower, an organization that provides camp experiences for LGBTQ+ youth. In his free time, Finn enjoys kayaking, hobby electronics, advocacy work, and hanging out with his parrot (and former AXL Academy classroom pet!), Bernoulli.

Our Board of Directors meet once a month for ~2 hours. There are additional opportunities to chair a committee for the Board. Our Board of Directors are made up of volunteers who get voted onto the board. These volunteers are families of AXL, community members and a teacher representative. You can get involved with public comment in the meeting, reading over financials and joining the board to provide leadership for the school*. For the next board meeting, check out our calendar.
