Applications for the 2012-13 school year must be received by February 24, 2012 to be eligible for the lottery. This year's lottery will take place at AXL Academy on Wednesday, March 7 at 6:00pm.

Enrollment Policies & Lottery AXL’s enrollment policies are consistent with C.S.R. 22-30.5-104(3). They are designed to maximize the school’s ability to recruit a diverse population of students and families and to grow at a rate that honors our mission and fiscal responsibility. Applications are accepted online, by mail and by fax.

Random Lottery AXL selects its students by random lottery, held in public during the first week of March. Only those students whose applications are completed in full and received before the application deadline are included in the lottery. Students whose applications are received after the lottery will be added to the existing waiting list.

District Policy AXL is a public charter school authorized by Aurora Public Schools (APS) and an open enrollment school, like every other public school in Colorado. Priority admissions are given to students who reside within the district. Admission is offered to students residing outside APS only as space permits.

Sibling/Household Policy AXL supports whole families to create a passionate and sustainable school community. Siblings of enrolled students receive priority admissions if their applications are completed and received on time.

Staff Policy Children of people employed by AXL receive priority admissions if their applications are completed and received by the designated deadline. These children may be enrolled regardless of the parent’s ongoing employment and will not exceed 20% of the school’s population. Employees' children do not participate in the lottery.

Wait List Students not selected in the lottery are kept on the waiting list and will be invited to enroll in order in the event that openings become available. It is the family's responsibility to keep AXL updated if contact information changes throughout the year.

PreKindergarten AXL’s PreK program includes Expeditionary Learning Curriculum, co-ed bilingual instruction, fully licensed ECE teachers, and a class size of 16 students. The program is open to students who turn 4 by October 1st of the school year in which they plan to enroll. The program is divided into two half-day sessions: the morning session runs from 8:15am – 11:30am and the afternoon session runs from 12:30pm – 3:45pm. There is no PreK on Wednesdays (either session). Tuition is determined using a sliding scale based on family income. Maximum tuition for 4 days/week is $165/week ($660/month).
